There may be occasions when you are away from work and you don't pay your local government pension scheme contributions.
For example, you could have:
- a period of unpaid sick leave
- an authorised leave of absence (approved by your employer)
- days where you take industrial action (strike)
- a period of Reserve Forces leave
- a period of Maternity, Paternity or Adoption leave
