The West Midlands Pension Fund has a dedicated Member Services Team who are committed to supporting employers by providing information to members on a wide range of pension matters.

We know that members can find pensions a little confusing; but our aim is that once they have met one of our representatives, they will have a much greater understanding of their pension benefits.

We offer a range of different ways to engage and support our members. These include presentations such as Introduction to the LGPS, LGPS & You, Pre-Retirement and At Risk.

A Fund officer will attend your organisation and provide an event to support your staff. This could be one of the existing services or a specific bespoke presentation to deliver the facts regarding how any changes to their employment terms may impact on their LGPS benefits. We find that members appreciate the message being delivered by a Fund representative.

We offer follow up face-to-face sessions, where necessary, which allows members to discuss their financial affairs in more detail.

Please note that Fund representatives can only give information, therefore, if members require financial advice they should seek the services of an independent financial advisor.

We believe it is important to offer all of our members an opportunity to attend a Fund event and to discuss their pension benefits, we therefore provide an out of office hours service. The Fund will do its best to accommodate any special requirements you may have in respect of time and location.

For more information please view our Member Services Team 2024 Leaflet or watch the video below.

Services We Offer

The team use a variety of engagement methods to provide pension support and guidance to members. These can be arranged at a time and place to suit your employees and can be held at your workplace or at the Fund's offices in Wolverhampton.

We can provide promotional wording for you to advertise events within your workplace and we can manage the booking process on your behalf. To book an event or discuss the support we can provide for your members, please email wmpfevents@wolverhampton.gov.uk

Events

Roadshows

The 'Roadshows' are very popular with employers as they give members the opportunity to speak with Fund officers on a drop-in basis at their workplace without needing to provide a room.

Roadshow events provide members with an opportunity to engage with Fund Officers regarding their pension benefits. The team has a purpose-built exhibition vehicle which is maintained and driven by Fund Officers and can be taken out to employers across the region. Members can come and see the team at any time throughout the event. Literature is provided for members to take away, this includes general information on the Local Government Pension Scheme, how to register for Pensions Portal, information on AVC's and much more. We can assist employers in advertising events by providing e-posters or wording for intranet sites in advance to fully promote the roadshows.

(Please note that fund representatives can only give information, therefore, if members require financial advice they should seek the services of an independent financial advisor).

Roadshow Bus dimensions:

The roadshow bus is 8m long (with an additional 2m ramp) and 2.15m high, weighs 3.880 tonnes and takes up 8 car parking spaces, it is self contained and has it's own power supply.

Individual Pension Consultations

The 'Individual Pension Consultations' provide an opportunity for members to speak to a Fund officer in confidence about their pension benefits at their place of work. To book this event we will require a minimum of 6 appointments.

Individual Pension Consultations provide an opportunity for members to speak in confidence about their pension benefits. These meetings take place at your organisation and normally last around 30 minutes. They include a health check of a member's record, an update of their current pension benefits and where they are likely to be at their normal retirement age. If members have access to their Pension Portal account (a link is always sent prior to the event), we can assist them in producing pension estimates to aid their retirement planning. We can also help with any other pension concerns they may have.

(Please note that fund representatives can only give information, therefore, if members require financial advice they should seek the services of an independent financial advisor).

Pensions Portal Workshops/Surgeries
