Pensioner Engagement Forum

In our 2017 newsletter, we confirmed that we were going to launch a Pensioner Engagement Forum to give you the opportunity to provide us with your thoughts on the various communications we deliver, along with providing feedback for the future content of the annual pensioner newsletter.

The second Pensioner Engagement Forum held at the Fund offices on 5th October 2018 was another success and we would like to thank all those who took part in the session for their valuable input.

Topics discussed included -

  • An update on Pensions Portal.
  • Review of the 2018 Pensioner newsletter.
  • An explanation of the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • A review of the newly created Bereavement Guide (produced following feedback from the 2017 Pensioner Engagement Forum).
  • An explanation of LGPS Central.
  • An explanation of Guaranteed Minimum Pensions (GMP) and Lifetime Allowance (LTA).

As a result of feedback from the group, the following action points were agreed -

  • The Fund is going to launch a 'Pre-Retirement Workshop' to assist the transition from active membership to becoming a pensioner and a pilot session was held on 15th January 2019 at the Fund Office with two volunteers from the forum.
  • A 'Tea and Teach' session to be piloted where pensioner members can be assisted with logging onto Pensions Portal.
  • Pensioner newsletter to continue to include an explanation of P60's and payslips and also to include signposting to other areas e.g. benefits and pension credit, reminder of the importance of keeping us updated with change of addresses and bank details and an explanation of the PI split for April/May full increase.

If you would like to take part in this year's forum (date to be confirmed) please email or call the Member Services Team on 01902 551869.
